Every single registered domain name has at least 2 Name Server records which show where it's hosted i.e. by using these records you point your domain address to the servers of a specific web hosting company. This way, you've got both your site and your e-mails managed by the same provider. On the lower level of the Domain Name System (DNS), however, there is a variety of other records, for example A and MX. The former reveals which server handles the website for a given Internet domain and is always an IP address (123.123.123.123), while the second one indicates which server manages the emails and is always an alphanumeric string (mx1.domain.com). As an example, when you enter a domain in your Internet browser, your request is sent through the global DNS system to the provider whose NS records the domain uses and from there you could be directed to the servers of another service provider in case you have set an IP address of the latter as an A record for your domain. Having separate records for the site and the emails means that you could have your website and your e-mails with 2 different companies if you would like.
Custom MX and A Records in Shared Website Hosting
With a shared website hosting package from our company, you're going to be able to create or modify the A and MX records of your domain names and subdomains easily by using our state-of-the-art Hepsia hosting Control Panel. Editing the default records requires two clicks and the creation of a new record requires just a few more clicks, so although you may have never dealt with such matters, you won't encounter any troubles. If you wish to change your e-mail provider and you have to set up a number of MX records in addition to the default 2, you can choose their priority i.e. which record will deal with your emails first when someone sends you a message. Normally the new provider is going to tell you what these values should be. With our shared plans, you're going to have 100 % control of your domains and subdomains and you're going to be able to manage their A and MX records easily and at any time.
Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Servers
Accessing and changing the A or MX records for any one of your domain addresses or subdomains is extremely easy if you get a semi-dedicated server plan through our company. The accounts are handled by using our in-house built Hepsia Control Panel, which features a section dedicated to the DNS records of your domain addresses. The latter will be listed alphabetically and you could click on every one of them to see both the A and the MX records. Modifying any record will be as easy as typing in the new one in a text box and saving the change, so even when you have never dealt with such matters before, you will not encounter any troubles if you decide to move your website or e-mails to a different service provider while keeping the second service with our company. If needed, you can also create additional MX records and set a certain priority based on the instructions of the new provider.
